A portion of my area was Salem City and as I started researching the city and it's history, I found that it was first called Pond Town. I found a few of the ponds in the city and there were people fishing as well as a cabin on the west bank of the biggest pond, which was the first post office around 1872. During Christmas time there are Christmas lights set up around the pond as well as horse drawn carriage rides.
Lyman Curtis eventually changed the city's name to Salem meaning city of peace.
